Dialogue

Had a lot of fun animating this, the snout was hard to keep consistent but overall i didn't have too much trouble. My favorite part was the wings, the were simple and i feel like they added a lot to the scene

This is my finished weight assignment with my oc Jules. I had a lot of fun putting her personality into the scene. At first a had a lot of trouble with the fall but Corrigan's advice was very helpful and made it look a lot more believable.

After Effects- MotionMedia

This project was definitely not my strong-suit. It was pretty difficult for me, not only technically, but creatively as well. It was confusing for me to figure out how to do simple things so i felt a little limited with my knowledge. I had a hard time coming up with creative transitions and effects. It was satisfying when things worked out but overall i was not very excited with this project and missed frame by frame animation haha.

After Effects ball animation

This is my ball animation. Working with after effects is very much out of my comfort zone so i was a little confused at first. The timing was a lot harder to do on AE than hand drawing on harmony or stop motion on dragon frame for me. I also experimented with the background and thought the colors and style came out nice.

Walk cycle

This is my walk cycle. For this animation i chose to do my character Zedd because i thought it would be interesting and challenging to draw his bird feet.

This is my finished rotoscope. The most frustrating parts were getting Dwight shirt to stay as natural as possible without shaking (which felt impossible haha) and covering the background where it overlapped with the characters.

Kitty followthrough

For this assignment I chose to focus on follow through. Originally I had a completely different concept but when I filmed it I realized that it was a bit too challenging and would have taken too long. I decided to scrap that idea it so that I could prioritize quality. The beginning frames are a little wobbly as I was getting used to working with multiple pieces but luckily I got better with practice and the film got less wobbly. The vent was supposed to be too chilly for the cat which is why she jumped away but the way I tried to show cold air looked confusing so I scrapped it. I tried to pay close attention to the ears,  eyes, and mostly the tail as they reacted to the body's movements. I made the ears bounce when she got up and dropped down, pulled them back for the jump and pulled them more forwards as she slowed in the air. The eyes would also close when she impacted and changed direction for the jump. The tail was definitely my favorite part to do and although this piece feels short to me I think the work I did to show the followthrough payed off.

This is my bouncing ball animation, it was really fun to work with stop motion for the first time. The only trouble I had was slowing the ball down over time/making sure it lost energy over time. Sometimes it would feel like it was going to fast so I would have to adjust it to go slower and decrease the height of the arcs. Overall it was pretty easy to work with and very entertaining to do!

Hi, I'm Amber and I'm really excited to take this class. I can't wait to learn more about animation since it's my major and I haven't animated a lot. I do consider myself an artist and I'm very passionate about it. My favorite things to draw are animals and monsters. I love creating new characters and giving them backgrounds and stories. Adding personality and emotion to characters through movement is something i'm very interested in. I'm also hoping to meet more people interested in the same things as me :)
